Saturday-Sunday my grandpa took me and my cousin tanner camping in Tres Alamos wash to scout out for javelina.
We were supposed to go Friday-Sunday but there was a blizzard on the way so we had to turn back and take off early Saturday morning.
When we got there we took a hike and Tanner and I got addicted to snow chewing, but when we came back around the hill from our first hike all the snow had melted. Grandpa wanted to take pictures but he had forgotten his camera and my camera froze up and went crazy.
It was soooo cold. On our first hike we saw a white tailed deer(i think it was a doe) and a really cool hawk that kept staring at us, plus a bunch of cows that a rancher let live there, no javelina.
then we drove the old camper down to the camp and on the road down there was so many ocitillos so close to the road that the side view mirrors kept getting pushed alll the way in.
At camp it started to warm up but when the sun went down so did the temperature(27 degrees!) and it kept going down. oh yeah, there was cow pies every square foot, its still in my shoes.
really early in the morning, like at 2:30, coyotes came and screeched (not howl it was more like a scream) outside the tent, tanner thought that they were wolves. the next morning we had breakfast set out on another hike. we went along crunching granola bars and searching for javelina with binoculars. we didn't see any other animals, not a bunny or prairie dog, except for, get this, three MOUNTAIN LION BABIES! they were Gorgeous! but we didn't go down the hill because we did NOT want to find the mother.
so after that we went down to the target practice hill and shot some pellet guns and then had jack in the box at Benson and went home. But we didn't see any javelina (rats), does any one other than me notice when you go scouting or hunting for one animal you see like every other kind except for that one, or do I just scare them away?

Some things about me. . .
- Elanor Willow
- I delight in tales of old. I am prone to severe cases of scriptitation. I revel in playing music, the feel of my fingers rippling down the keys of ruel, creating lilting melodies. Petrichor is my favorite smell. I am a dreamer, a poet, a star-gazer a shaper of words and thoughts and pictures. Errantry is my trade. Drifting between dreamt up lands conceived in childhood and this world, I weave logic and creativity, reality and dreams. But most importantly I am bound by love and life-bondage to my Master, the one who created me and gave me the power to create. The one who saved me by his blood. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
